Women’s Soccer to Play Last Regular Season Home Game Thursday Against St. John’s; Travels to Providence Sunday

- The Villanova Wildcats (7-6-3, 3-2-1 BIG EAST) will play their final home regular season game this Thursday when they host the St. John's Red Storm.  Following the weekday match Villanova will travel to Providence to take on the Friars Sunday.  Both games can be seen on BEDN.

The Wildcats are looking to rebound after falling to Marquette on Sunday by a final of 3-1.  Prior to Villanova had picked up back-to-back wins over Seton Hall and DePaul and drew with Butler.  With 10 points in the conference standings Villanova is tied for fourth place with three other conference opponents, including Providence. 

Currently three Wildcats have contributed double digit points this season.  Brice McInroy and Chloe O'Neill led the team with 11 points, McInroy has a team high five goals while O'Neill is the assist leaders with the same number.  Grad student Sam Rosette has 10 points, on four goals and two assists.  Rosette netted the Wildcats goal during Sunday's game at Marquette.  Allison Breed, Kristin Barbour, and Makayla Stadler has all found the back of the net twice this season while Kristen Vinciguerra has a pair of assists.

Rebecca Gartner has been the Wildcats starter in goal and has played over 908 minutes this season.  The keeper has a 1.58 goals against average, .738 save percentage, and 45 total saves. 

A Look at St. John's: The Red Storm are 4-11 and 1-5 in conference action heading into Thursday's game.  St. John's defeated Seton Hall 1-0 and have since lost their last four matches.  Zsani Kajan leads the Red Storm's offense with 12 points, the redshirt junior has scored six goals.  Both Maia Cabrera and Jessica Garziano have four points this season while Alex Madden has three.  Seven other players have contributed at least one point this season. 

In goal the last five games has been Meredith Reinhardt.  In just over 574 minutes of action she has a 1.72 goals against average, .780 save percentage, and 39 total saves. 

A Look at Providence:  The Friars are 8-5-2 and 3-2-1 in BIG EAST play.  Prior to host the Wildcats Sunday they will host Butler Bulldogs Thursday night.  Last week Providence defeated Creighton on the road 2-1 to rebound from a 2-0 loss the week before at Xavier.  To start off BIG EAST action the Friars defeated both St. John's and Marquette before falling to the Hoyas and drawing with DePaul.

Hannah McNulty leads the Friars with 14 point this season, the forward has netted a team high seven goals this season.  Elayna Grillakis has nine points while Amber Birchwell has four.  Birchwell and Oliva Lucia both have two assists this season, a team high.  Shelby Hogan is the Providence keeper this season and the redshirt junior has a .89 goals against average, .861 save percentage, and 87 total saves.
