Villanova Earns 7-2 Win Over Davidson on Senior Day

It was all about Villanova's (7-8, 1-5) eight seniors both before and after its 7-2 victory over Davidson.

In the pouring rain on Sunday at the Proving Grounds, the seniors, Megan Vermeil, Suzie Clark, Caroline Coladonato, Lydia Sydnor, Abby Siana, Emma McLaughlin, Christen Pennington and Claire Weaver, were celebrated in a pre-game ceremony.

Four of them, as well as sophomore Rachel Overlander, went on to score in Villanova's matchup against the Wildcats.

Vermeil, off an assist from Sydnor, put Villanova up 1-0 seven minutes into the first quarter.

Siana, assisted by Pennington, put the Wildcats up by two in the last scoring play of the first half.

Two unassisted goals from Sydnor put Villanova up by four.

Sydnor now has 15 goals this season.

Vermeil scored her ninth goal of the season in the 50th minute, putting Villanova up 5-0.

Davidson scored quickly after, cutting Villanova's lead to four.

Clark, assisted by Emily Clarke, scored her first goal of the season in the 52nd minute.

Another Wildcat made their season scoring debut, with sophomore Overlander putting an unassisted goal into the back of the net in the 56th minute.

Sophomore goal keeper Claire Borman earned her fourth win of the season, making seven big saves in the game.

Villanova concludes its regular season versus No. 19 Old Dominion on Friday at 4 p.m.
