Greensboro, NC – Villanova golf played 36 holes at the Grandover Collegiate Sunday and concluded the day tied for 10
th at the par-72 Grandover Resort course in Greensboro, NC.
Matt Davis capitalized in the opening round of his first starting of the season, leading the 'Cats with a 74. The sophomore played an incredibly steady round, with just one birdie, one bogey, one double and 15 pars. Davis had a bit of a setback in round two, coming in with an 81 to finish 11-over on the day.
Matt Minerva also played a solid opening round, finishing 5-over. Minerva got off to a shaky start, but finished strong shooting 1-under over his final seven holes. Minerva also found himself giving up strokes in the second round and carded 81 as well to sit 14-over through two rounds.
Reb Banas didn't have the start he was looking for, shooting 7-over in the opening round, but did play a stroke better in the second. Banas had three birdies on the front nine to help card a 6-over and leave him at 13-over through 36 holes.
Danny Dougherty had a tough first round, carding an 83, but was able to put that behind him and rebound for a 79 in the second.
Villanova will be back on the course tomorrow morning at 8:30 playing with Seton Hall in the third and final round.
