Women’s Soccer Ranked 5th in USC East Region Poll and Highest RPI on Any Team in the State

Villanova, Pa.- With a 5-4-3 overall record and 1-1-1 in BIG EAST play the Wildcats earned regional recognition as Villanova was ranked 5th in this week's United Soccer Coaches East Region Poll, announced Monday afternoon.

On Sunday the Wildcats picked up a point in conference play with a 1-1 draw at Butler.  To kick off conference play Villanova had a 1-0 victory over Xavier and fell to the Georgetown Hoyas in their second BIG EAST match. 

Villanova is one of four BIG EAST teams to earn regional recognition this week as it joins Georgetown (1), Xavier (4), and Butler (7).

Also, on Monday afternoon the Wildcats moved into the 46th spot on the NCAA Women's Soccer RPI; making them have the highest RPI position of any Pennsylvania Division I college or university.   

The Wildcats will continue BIG EAST play this week on Thursday night when they travel to Seton Hall.  After, Villanova will return home to host DePaul on Sunday at 1:00 P.M.
