The newest group of inductees features seven former student-athletes coming from seven different sports. Villanova Athletics will celebrate these honorees at the 44th annual Hall of Fame Dinner in the Finneran Pavilion on Friday, January 17.  Registration information for the dinner will be announced at a later date.

Below are the career highlights for each of the Varsity Club Hall of Fame inductees.

Brooke Bergmann (Field Hockey, Class of 2001)
Brooke Bergmann saved her best performance for last, doubling her career goals and points totals during her senior season to end with career totals of 11 goals, 24 assists and 46 points. Bergmann's 24 assists is the eighth most all-time for the Wildcats. A two-time All-BIG EAST selection -- first team in 2001, second team in 2000 -- Bergmann was also a NFHCA First Team All-Mid Atlantic Region selection in 2001. She served as Villanova's co-captain for the 2000 and 2001 seasons and helped the Wildcats to a 48-36 record during her career, including a trip to the BIG EAST Championship final in 2001. In addition to her on-field honors, Bergmann was also a four-time BIG EAST All-Academic team selection, three-time NFHCA Division I Academic All-Star (1999, 2000, 2001) and a 2001 Verizon Academic All-District 2 honoree. Bergmann was the Sister Mary Margaret Cribben Award winner, which is given to a Villanova student-athlete who unselfishly sacrifices time, effort, body and soul to lead and motivate their teammates in excelling for Villanova athletics through 'inspiration'.

Gary Buchanan (Men's Basketball, Class of 2003)
If Gary Buchanan was heading to the free throw line, odds were he was going to convert. Buchanan holds Villanova records for free throw percentage as a freshman (.932), sophomore (.942) and junior (.911). As a sophomore, he established an NCAA record by hitting 73 consecutive free throws and led the nation in free throw percentage. Buchanan led Villanova in scoring in both the 2001-02 and 2002-03 seasons with 17.8 points per game. He finished his career with 1,799 points, good for 12th in school history, and is 19th all-time with 154 steals. Buchanan was named to the BIG EAST All-Rookie team in 1999-2000 and was a two-time Honorable Mention All-BIG EAST selection.

She ranks 14th in school history with 1,293 career points, 22nd with 244 assists and 23rd with 462 rebounds. She also got the job done defensively, tallying 159 career steals. Davis started 103 of the 126 career games she played in, with the Wildcats going 85-41 during that time, including a BIG EAST title, three NCAA bids and an Elite Eight appearance in 2003. In 2003, Davis was a Second Team All-BIG EAST selection and earned First Team All-Big Five honors. She was also a two-time member of the BIG EAST All-Academic team.

Ryan Knight (Football, Class of 2000)
After playing nose guard during his freshman campaign, Ryan Knight found his niche on the opposite side of the trenches at offensive guard. As an offensive lineman, Knight started for three years and helped Villanova to a four-year record of 33-14, two NCAA playoff appearances and an undefeated regular season in 1997 when the Wildcats were ranked No. 1 in the country for most of the year. He earned third team All-Conference in 1997, second team in 1998 and first team in 1999. Knight was also a two-time first team All-ECAC performer, claiming the honor in 1997 and 1998.

Becky Koch (Women's Swimming & Diving, Class of 2004)
A dominant force in the pool, Becky Koch recorded the sixth-fastest time in the nation in the 500 yard freestyle in 2002-03. She was a four-time BIG EAST champion from 2003 to 2004, earning BIG EAST Most Outstanding Swimmer honors in 2003. That same year, Koch qualified for Senior Nationals in the 200, 500 and 1650 freestyle. She was a two time All-American, earning the honors in the 500 freestyle (2003) and the 400-meter freestyle (2004). In 2004, Koch qualified for the United States Olympic Trials.

Janel Schillig (Women's Soccer, Class of 2002)
Janel Schillig was one of the best shot stoppers in the history of Villanova women's soccer. After garnering a spot on the 1998 All-BIG EAST Rookie Team, Schillig went on to be named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year and earned a spot of the All-BIG EAST First Team in 1999. She also earned All-Mid Atlantic Region Third Team honors and was the BIG EAST Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2001. She holds the school record for career saves with 530, and ranks second among all goalkeepers in school history in wins (39), games played (76), games started (72) and minutes played (6684:21). Schillig is third in school history with a save percentage of .859 and compiled 22 career shutouts while having a career goals-against average of 1.17. A three-time member of the BIG EAST All-Academic Team, Schillig ranks in the top five in Villanova single-season records for saves, shutouts and wins.
