Palm City, Fl. – Villanova Golf has wrapped up their first tournament of the spring season on Tuesday afternoon. The Wildcats finished in 12
th place.
Host UNCG won the tournament shooting -14. Mercer finished second (-8), James Madison finished third (-5), Chattanooga came in fourth (-1), followed by VCU (+5), Samford (+11), Boston College (+22), South Dakota (+26), Fort Wayne (+31), Seton Hall (+34), App State (+35), Villanova (+53), and Lehigh (+73).
Connor Daly finished the tournament with a score of +4 and tied for 28
th. Following him was
Mark Benevento (+14),
Reb Banas (+17),
Jack O'Hara (+20), and
Matt Davis (+26).
Danny Dougherty finished up the individual tournament with a score of +16.
Nick Lyerly of UNCG took home medal honors by just one stroke over VCU's Kristian Tannum Donaldson. Lyerly shot a -2 on the day and Donaldson shot a +2, which turned out to be the difference.
The Wildcats will have some time off as they don't have another tournament until March 4
th when they will compete in the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate hosted by Loyola Maryland.
