Auburn, Al. – Villanova finishes day two dropping both games of the day to Troy and North Dakota State.
Troy
Troy came into the game with an impressive record of 11-4 and Villanova fell to them 6-1.
Leanna Johnson got the ball for the Trojans and executed pitch after pitch. She pitched a complete game giving up two hits, one run, no earned, one walk, and struck out 14 Wildcats.
Paige Rauch suffered her first loss on the mound as a Wildcat and now has a record of 4-1. In all, Villanova sent out four pitchers to try and get the win against Troy.
The Trojans got the first six runs of the game before
Jordan Olivarez got the Wildcats on the board with an RBI double that scored Rauch.
Caroline Jones picked up the other hit for Villanova with a single in the bottom of the seventh.
North Dakota State
North Dakota State got the first four runs of the game off of Villanova starter
Anissa Amarillas. Rauch answered back with an RBI double to score
Angela Giampolo to make it a 4-1 game in the third.
However, the Bison added two more runs in the fourth inning to make it a 6-1 game which would end up being the final score.
Giampolo went 1-2 on the game with a SB and another HBP but it was not enough to fuel the Wildcat offense.
Julia DaCosta also went 1-3 with a SB.
Delaney Switzer finished the game with a hit as well.
Sara Kennedy came in to pitch in relief of Amarillas and finished with two innings pitched allowing just one hit and no runs with a strikeout.
The Wildcats wrap up the Tiger Invitational with a matchup against host Auburn. First pitch is scheduled for 12:30 PM and live stats will be available.
