Auburn, Al. – Villanova wrapped up the Tiger Invitational on Sunday. They finished the tournament with a record of 1-4 and an overall record of 4-6.
Head Coach
Bridget Orchard stated, "This weekend was a valuable opportunity to be tested early against ranked opponents and get better. It is a process and we will be better in the long run because of it. We are learning every game."
This is the second time they faced Auburn in the tournament.
Paige Rauch got the start for the Wildcats and pitched five innings however, the Tigers were able to get seven runs off of her. Rauch was able to put Villanova up with her bat in the top of the first with a solo home run to right field, but it would be the only run the Wildcats would get.
Caroline Jones was able to reach on a single in the second inning, when
Delaney Switzer bunted her to second.
Ryan Henry then came up and reached on a walk, but Villanova could not get them in.
Olivia LaQua also reached base on a walk in the fifth inning.
The Cats will head back down south and will compete in five games in Madeira Beach next weekend. They will play Chattanooga, Presbyterian, Florida A&M, FIU, and Detroit Mercy.
