MANCHESTER, Conn. - The Villanova men's tennis team defeated UCONN 4-3 on Saturday night at the Magic Lincer Tennis Club of Manchester. With the match tied at 3-3, the match was clinched by Dylan Flanagan as he won 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 on court no. 4. With the victory the Wildcats improve to 7-2 on the season.

Head coach Brad Adams on the win, "UCONN was ready for a great fight tonight.  We have a long history of tight matches with them when they were in the conference and tonight's match was no different.  UCONN had great team energy during the doubles and played at an extremely high level and out played us to win the doubles point.  In singles Tommy Mulflur and Charlie Schuls took care of business giving us a 2-1 lead, but UConn put up a great battle from the 1 through 4 positions.  The match was clinched with Dylan Flanagan who has been an unbelievable clutch player throughout the season.  This wasn't out best performance on the year but I believe that even if we are not playing at our best and are able to gut out a win it shows the true sign of a champion."

UCONN won the doubles point as they won on courts no. 1 and no. 3. The doubles team of Dylan Flanagan and Charlie Schuls won 7-5 on court no. 3.

Villanova rallied back by winning three singles matches in a row to give them a 3-1 lead. UCONN then won two matches that went three sets on courts no. 1 and no. 2 to tie the match at 3-3. Dylan Flanagan would then clinch the match for the Wildcats on court no. 4.

The Wildcats will travel out to California for their next three matches. Coach Adams on the trip, "We look forward to getting outside and playing a very challenging schedule out in California during Spring Break."
