LA JOLLA, Calif. - The Villanova men's tennis team started their West Coast trip with a 4-3 win against the University of California San Diego Tritons. With the win, the Wildcats improve to 8-2 while UC San Diego drops to 3-6. 

The Wildcats swept all three doubles matches to secure the opening point. Thomas Dodson/Tyler Roth won 6-3 from court no. 1. Tommy Mulflur/Stefan Suarez won 7-6 (7-0) from court no.2 and Dylan Flanagan/Charlie Schuls won 6-4 on court three.

In singles play, UC San Diego won two of the first three matches to tie the match at 2-2. On court no. 6 Tommy Mulflur defeated Marius Ruh in three sets 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 to give the Wildcats a 3-2 lead.

Dylan Flanagan clinched the match for Villanova by defeating Zach Emmert 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-3) on court no. 4. Flanagan improved to 9-1 in singles play this season.

The Wildcats next match of their California trip is on Saturday March 2nd against Oklahoma State in San Diego at 5:00 p.m. PST.
