College Park, Md.- The Villanova Wildcats fell to the Maryland Terrapins Saturday afternoon by a final of 17-7.
Maryland jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and
Connor Kirst got the Wildcats on the board for the first time at the 4:22 mark in the first on a man-up opportunity. The Terrapins would score two more goals in the first to be up 6-1 at the end of the first.
Jared Bernhardt, who scored the final goal of the first also netted the first in the second quarter just over three minutes in.Â
Jimmy Gabrielsen scored the Wildcats second goal under a minute later on a pass from Kirst. Maryland would score four more before halftime to be up 11-2.

Matt Campbell and
Corey McManus netted back-to-back goals for the Wildcats in the third along with Kirst scoring his second of the day on a pass from
Andrew Gallahue to give Villanova five goals at the end of the third. Bubba Fairman, finished with four goals, netted two of them in the third quarter for Maryland.
Campbell and McManus would each net one more in the fourth and the Terrapins would score one as well to make the final 17-7.Â
Dan Fisher went 15-for-25 from the faceoff circle with five ground balls.Â
Chris Donovan also had five ground balls for the Wildcats while
TJ Comizio had three along with two caused turnovers.Â
Villanova will hit the road next weekend for two quick games. First the Wildcats will take on the Fairfield Stags on Saturday afternoon and then Monday head to Providence to take on the Brown Bears.Â
