Wildcats Register 17-9 Win over Delaware

Villanova, Pa.- For the second straight week freshman midfielder Matt Campbell netted six goals and helped lead the Wildcats to their third win of the season.  Villanova defeated Delaware by a final of 17-9 on Saturday afternoon.

Villanova dominated the faceoff's, winning 27-of-30.  Dan Fisher won 13 and had five ground balls while Zack Ornstein won the other 14 and had a team high 10 ground balls.

Five Wildcats netted their first career goals against the Blue Hens; Patrick Daly finished with a hat trick while Michael Ubriaco, Dan Fisher, Jack Kinnear, and Luke Prybylski all netted one.

Freshman goalkeeper Will Vitton got the start in goal for the Wildcats and played all 60 minutes between the posts.  The goalie had seven saves along with three ground balls and a caused turnover.
The Wildcats and Blue Hens were in a tight battle in the first half, with the score being tied 3-3 at the end of the first quarter.  Delaware pushed ahead 6-5 at the 6:08 mark in the second but the Wildcats would close the quarter with three straight goals to regain the lead.  Daly netted the first while Campbell scored the final two of the run.

Campbell picked things up right where he left off at the start of the third quarter scoring the first on a dish from Eric Overbay.  Overbay would then assist the next Villanova goal just over a minute later this time McManus found the back of the net.   The Blue Hens would score one in the third while the Wildcats closed out the quarter on four straight goals by four different players.

Delaware would score two in the final quarter while the Wildcats added three more to make the final 17-9.

Next weekend the four Division I schools in the Philadelphia area will play in the inaugural Philly 4 Lacrosse Classic.  Villanova Stadium will serve as the host to two games on Friday night while Vidas Athletic Complex will host Sunday's games. 

The Wildcats will take on Penn Friday at 7:30 P.M. and Drexel on Sunday at 12:00 P.M.
