Wildcats Late Rally Not Enough as Wildcats Fall to Georgetown 4-2

Tyler Bruno led the Wildcats with two hits

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. - The Villanova baseball team fell 4-2 to the Georgetown Hoyas in game two of Saturday's double header at Villanova Ballpark . The Wildcats fell earlier in the day to the Hoyas 4-2 but won the series opener yesterday 3-1.

Tyler Bruno led the Wildcats with two hits, a double and then a single. It was his second game in a row with two base hits. Jonathan Rosero got the start for Villanova going two and two thirds. He allowed five hits, one run, earned and struck out one.

The Hoyas got on the board in the top of the third with a leadoff home run by Ruedisili to right field to give Georgetown a 1-0 lead. 

The next inning the Hoyas hit a one out double down the left field line and then the runner advanaced to third on a throwing error. The next batter grounded out to second and scored the runner from third to make it 2-0 Hoyas.

In the top of the fifth, Davis led off with a double to left center field. A RBI single up the middle by Weisenberg scored the runner and the Weisenberg advanced to second on the throw. He would then advance to third after a wild pitch. The next batter hit a RBI double to make it 4-0 Georgetown.

Tyler Bruno led off the bottom of the eighth with a single to center field. Sam Margulis then tripled to right center field and score Bruno to make it 4-1 Hoyas. With one out, Dylan McNary grounded out to third base and scored Margulis from third to make it 4-2.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Wildcats got one runner on but were not able to do anything with it. 

Villanova's next game is on Thursday April 18th as the Wildcats will travel to St. John's for a three game series. The Wildcats next home game is on Tuesday April 23rd against Monmouth.
