Softball Splits With Creighton

Villanova, Pa. – The two games against Creighton on the day result in a split, with Villanova winning the first game 6-0, and losing the second game 8-0.

Game One
Paige Rauch delivered another sensational performance on the mound coming through with a complete game shut-out. She picked up her ninth win on the season allowing just three hits, three walks, and eight strikeouts.

She also hit a home run to deep center field in the first inning which ties her for the all-time single season home run record with 11. Following her at bat, Ryan Henry was hit by a pitch, and Caroline Jones doubled to right center. That brought up Delaney Switzer who delivered in a big way with a two-run double to right center field.

In the second inning, Angela Giampolo hit her second home run of the season to put the Wildcats up 4-0. The final runs of the game would come when Villanova hit their third home run of the game, when Jones would blast a two-run shot to left center to make the score 6-0.

Switzer, Jones, and Rauch would all deliver multi-hit games, while Giampolo and Becky Ducar would pick up the other hits for the Cats.

Game Two
The second game of the day did not go as well as the first as Creighton would come back with a shut out of their own.

They jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning and would expand on it in the third, fourth, and fifth.

Giampolo, Rauch, Jones, and Julia DaCosta would all tally hits for the Wildcats, but it was not enough offense and they would fall.

Villanova now has a 20-18 record and sit at 4-4 in BIG EAST play. Tomorrow's game will be played at 11:00 AM at the Villanova Softball Complex.
