LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - The Villanova women's tennis team won at the Rider Broncs on Tuesday afternoon by a score of 6-0. The Wildcats won the doubles point and then won on the top three singles courts to clinch the match. With the victory, the Wildcats improve to 5-7 on the season.
On court one in doubles play, the Wildcats duo of
Lindsey Evans and Sabrina Grigiorian defeated Canda and Binder 6-3 on court one. Villanova's doubles team of
Lexi DeNucci and
Ellie Zimmerman beat Melendez and Garcia 6-3 from court two.
The Wildcats' winning ways continued in singles play as they won all their matches in two sets.
Claudia Althans won from court one 6-2, 6-2 over Canda.
Carina Burdick defeated Melendez 6-1, 6-1 on court two.
Olivia Kapp clinched the match from court three as she beat Garcia 6-3, 6-1.Â
With the match clinched, Sabrina Grigiorian's match on court four was halted with Grigiorian leading 7-5, 1-2. Rider only had four players available so the Wildcats got the points for courts five and six. Â
The Wildcats next match is on Wednesday April 3rd as the Wildcats will travel to Seton Hall with a start time of 2:00 p.m.
Villanova's next home match is on Thursday April 4th against La Salle with a start time of 1:30 p.m.
