Will Vitton both earn conference weekly honors as announced this afternoon. Kirst was named BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week while Vitton earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Kirst scored a hat trick and added an assist in Villanova's 16-5 victory over St. John's on Saturday, keeping the Wildcats at the top of the BIG EAST leaderboard with Denver with a 3-1 record. Of his three goals, two were score in man-up situations. Kirst's goals put Villanova ahead 10-1, 11-2 and 13-4. Kirst leads Villanova in points with 43 (27G, 16A).
Vitton had another multi-save performance between the pipes for the Wildcats with 18. His save count tied for a league-best performance in last week's games. Vitton's goals against average for the game was 5.18, with a save percentage of .783, also the highest marks for all starters last week. It is Vitton's fourth weekly honor having won Defensive Player of the Week on April 8 and Freshman of the Week honors on April 1 and April 8.
The Wildcats will close out the regular season on Saturday at Providence. Game time is set for 1:00 P.M. and can be seen on BEDN.
