Villanova, Pa. – After taking an early lead, Villanova fell to Penn 11-4.
The Quakers scored two first inning runs to take the lead, but the Wildcats would explode for four in the bottom of the second to take a 4-2 lead.
The inning started off when
Julia DaCosta roped a double to left center and then
Caroline Jones walked.
Ryan Henry would then come to the plate and hit a double of her own to deep right center that would score both DaCosta and Jones. Later in the inning,
Sydney Hayes would hit a double that fell between the left and center fielder and would advance Henry to third. The very next batter was
Angela Giampolo and she ripped a double to right center that scored Henry and Hayes.
Unfortunately, this would be all of the scoring for the Cats and Penn would score the next nine runs in the game for their first win at Villanova since 2008.
Villanova will be back at home this weekend for three weekend games against Providence. Saturday will feature a double header starting at noon, and Sunday will be just one game at noon.
