Wildcats Add Miami Transfer Sarah Mortensen

VILLANOVA, PA. – Villanova University head women's basketball coach Harry Perretta today announced that Sarah Mortensen has transferred to Villanova from the University of Miami. Mortensen, who is a 6-1 guard/forward, will sit out the 2019-20 season due to NCAA transfer rules and will have one year of eligibility remaining for the 2020-21 campaign.

"Sarah is a good fit for our style of play. She is an excellent three-point shooter with a good feel for the game," said Perretta. "We are excited to have Sarah in our program. She has the ability to be a solid contributor for us when she becomes eligible."

Mortensen played in all 34 games last season and averaged 2.9 points per game and 1.3 rebounds per contest in 10.1 minutes per game for a Miami team that went 25-9 overall. She connected on 40.3 percent of her three-point field goals (29-of-72).

A native of Copenhagen, Denmark, Mortensen played her senior year of high school at Long Island Lutheran in New York. In her one season there, she led Long Island Lutheran to the class AA state championship game by averaging 22.5 points per game, 9.5 rebounds per contest and 3.0 assists per game, while shooting 57.0 percent from the field. For her efforts, Mortensen was named by MSG Varsity as the Long Island Player of the Year and was an All-Metro First Team selection.
