VILLANOVA, Pa. – A series of additions and promotions were announced today as part of a comprehensive program to further bolster the student-athlete experience at Villanova University. New positions have been created throughout the Athletic Department in the areas of Sports Performance, Academic Support, and Fitness and Recreation.
"The welfare of the student-athlete is always a critical priority for us," stated Director of Athletics
Mark Jackson in making the announcement. "Our President, Father Peter Donohue, shares in this commitment to ensure we are supporting our student-athletes in every way possible. These additions and promotions bring us a terrific blend of experience and new arrivals who strengthen our ability to support the student-athletes across all of our programs."
Four current members of the Villanova Athletics staff have received promotions.
Lenny Currier came to Villanova in 2002 from the Philadelphia 76ers and has overseen the daily operations of the Sports Medicine staff since. Currier has been elevated to the role of Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine.
Brian Anderson has been promoted to Associate Athletics Director for Facilities & Game Operations. Anderson began his stint at Villanova as an intern in 2009 and has risen steadily through the ranks in the past decade.
Kevin Miller has been named an Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Performance. Miller worked previously as a Sports Performance Coach with an area of focus on Men's and Women's Soccer and Women's Basketball.
Kevin Ahern arrived at Villanova from the Philadelphia Union in 2017 as the Director of Ticket Operations. Ahern has earned a promotion to Assistant Athletics Director for Ticket Operations.
Four individuals have been added in new positions to the department. Those include Fitness and Recreation Coordinator
Gina Palermo; Coordinator of Aquatics, Intramurals and Recreation
Michael Hay; Sports Performance Coach
Colin Masterson and Athletic Academic Advisor
Chuck Davis.
In addition,
Sabrina Murphy has been added to fill a vacancy as a Sports Performance Coach.
Matt Fraschilla has also been promoted to Video Coordinator for Men's Basketball, while
Nicole McMullen has assumed the newly created role of Director of Operations for Men's and Women's Track & Field/Cross Country.
