Villanova in 12th After First Day of VCU Invitational
 
Richmond, Va. – Thirty-six holes of golf have been completed with Villanova sitting in 12th at 16-over at VCU Invitational at the Country Club of Virginia's Tuckahoe Creek Course.
 
The first round got off to a hot start, with Villanova tied for third as the golfers approached the turn. The back nine played tougher for the Wildcats who fell to 10th place by the completion of the round. Villanova shot a 5-over 293 during the first 18 holes and was led by Jack O'Hara and Danny Dougherty who both shot even-par. O'Hara's eagle on the 559-yard par-5 18th hole was the highlight of the round for the Wildcats. Matt Minerva shot 1-over and Noah Peck shot 4-over to round out the scoring for Villanova in the first round.
 
The Wildcats added a couple of strokes in the second round to their team score and shot an 11-over 299. Peck was the low-man in the second round with even-par and had three birdies in his round. Matt Minerva proved to be the most consistent for the day after a second round 74. Mark Benevento got a few strokes back with his second-round 75. O'Hara finished with a second-round 78 to round out the scoring.
 
Through two rounds, Minerva leads at a combined 3-over, followed by Peck at 4-over, O'Hara at 6-over and Benevento and Dougherty are both 8-over.
 
The final round will begin tomorrow with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m.
