Villanova, Pa.- The Villanova Wildcats will close out non-conference play this week with games Thursday night and Sunday afternoon. For the weeknight match the Wildcats will travel to New Jersey to take on the Princeton Tigers at 7:00 P.M. and then will return to Villanova to host the Brown Bears Sunday at 1:00 P.M. Prior to Sunday's game Villanova will honor the teams nine seniors with a ceremony 20 minutes before kickoff.
The Wildcats are looking to rebound after falling on Sunday to the #6 Florida State 5-0. Currently Villanova is 3-3-1 on the season with wins over LSU, Delaware, and Temple and pick up a draw against Saint Joseph's.
Chloe O'Neill leads the Villanova offense this season with 6 points (1 goal, four assists) while graduate student
Sam Rosette and
Brice McInroy has five points (2 goals, 1 assist). Senior captain
Kristin Barbour has netted one goal and dished out an assist while sophomore
Allison Breed has scored the other Villanova goal this season.
Hensley Hancuff has played over 511 minutes between the posts this season had has a 1.06 goals against average, 22 saves, and a .786 save percentage. Hancuff has twice earned BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week honors following week 1 and week 3 of the season.
A Look at Princeton: The Tigers are 2-3-1 on the season and are coming off an overtime loss to #15 Georgetown and Maryland last weekend. Princeton started the season with a 1-0 over Saint Joseph's and also defeated Boston University 4-0 one week later.
Last season Princeton made the NCAA Tournament and won the teams 10
th Ivy League title. The Tigers fell in the opening round to Texas Tech.
This season Grace Sherman has netted three goals while Marissa Hart has dished out three assists, both are team highs. While seven other Tigers has contributed points this season. Natalie Grossi has played every minute in goal for Princeton and has a 1.44 goals against average, 25 saves, and .735 save percentage.
A Look at Brown: The Bears are 5-0-1 on the season and will host the Fairfield Stags on Wednesday night before coming to Villanova. There wins have come over Hofstra, UMass Lowell, UConn, Hartford, and Providence and drew with #13 Texas A&M. Brown has scored 10 goals this season and have only allowed their opponent to score one.
In goal has been Kayla Thompson and Maria Guerrero Martinez who combined has a .16 goals against average, 21 saves, and a .955 save percentage. Ava Seelenfreund leads the team with seven points on three goals and one assist while Claire Myers has five points and Malina Yago has four.
