Villanova, Pa.- The Villanova Wildcats will begin conference action this Sunday when the Xavier Musketeers come to Higgins Soccer Complex. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 P.M. and can be seen on BEDN.
The Wildcats closed out non-conference play with a 1-0 win against the Brown Bears to finish 4-3-2 prior to BIG EAST play. Villanova drew during last weekends Thursday night matchup at Princeton 2-2.
Brice McInroy scored goals in both games and was awarded a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for her four-point week. McInroy leads all Wildcats with nine points while
Allison Breed,
Sam Rosette, and
Chloe O'Neill have six each.
In goal this season the Wildcats boast a 1.46 goals against average with 44 saves and a .759 save percentage.
Rebecca Gartner picked up her first clean sheet of the season against Brown while
Hensley Hancuff has three.
A Look at Xavier: The Musketeers enter Sunday's match 7-1-2 after wrapping up non-conference play with wins against Miami Ohio and Lipscomb. Xavier's only loss came in double overtime to Missouri 3-2 and the Musketeers picked up draws against Dayton and Cincinnati.
Samantha Dewey leads all BIG EAST players with 21 points after scoring nine goals and dishing out three assists in non-conference action. Jackie Richards and Gabrielle LoPresti have contributed six and five, respectively, while four other Musketeers have three points. Toni Bizzarro and Oliva Jenkins has split time in goal this season and combined have a 0.74 goals against average, 27 saves, and a .771 save percentage.
