Women’s Soccer Returns Home to Take on Delaware Thursday, Heads to Temple Sunday

.- The Villanova Wildcats will continue non-conference play this week when they host the Delaware Blue Hens on Thursday at 4:00 P.M. at Higgins Soccer Complex, the game can be seen o Nova Nation All-Access.  On Sunday the Wildcats will travel to Philadelphia to take on the Temple Owls at 1:00 P.M.

The Wildcats are 1-2-1 on the season and coming off a 0-2 weekend in Oregon.  Villanova started the season with a win over #24 LSU, 1-0, and then drew 1-1 with Saint Joseph's in the second match. 

Chloe O'Neill leads Villanova this season with three points (one goal, one assist) while graduate student Sam Rosette and senior captain Kristin Barbour have two points, both on goals.  Sophomore transfer Brice McInroy has the Wildcats other point on the season on an assist in game one against LSU. 

Rebecca Gartner got the start in goal during Sunday's game against Oregon and played the final 58 minutes against the Beavers on Friday and recorded 10 saves in the over 148 minutes between the posts last weekend. 

A Look at Delaware:  The Blue Hens are 3-1 coming into Thursday game.  Last weekend Delaware fell to Stony Brook 2-1 on Friday night but rebounded with a 3-0 win over Richmond on Sunday.  In the opening weekend the Blue Hens had back-to-back 2-0 wins over Lehigh and Lafayette. 

Senior midfielder Jessica Kennett leads the team with seven points (2 goals, 3 assists) while fellow senior Alexis Montgomery has six points (3 goals).  In goal has been sophomore Kamryn Stablein, who has played over 351 minutes between the posts and has 13 saves and only allowed two goals. 

A Look at Temple: The Owls are 1-2 on the season and will the Lehigh Mountain Hawks on Thursday night before the Wildcats travel to Philadelphia.  Temple opened the season with a 3-0 loss to #23 Wake Forest and played at UMBC one week later and picked up a 3-1 win.  Last weekend at Sacred Heart the Owls fell 3-1.   

Forward's Morgan Morocco and Gabriela Johnson lead the team with three points, both have netted a goal and dished out an assist.  Two other Owls have scored goals while one has dished out an assist to make up the other team points.
