Four Wildcats Named to 2020 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team

Villanova Picked to Finish Third In The BIG EAST

New York, N.Y. – The conference office announced on Friday morning that four Wildcats were named to the 2020 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team: sophomores Sydney Frank and Alexa Moro and seniors Grainger Rosati and Liz Trojan.

Villanova was also selected to finish third in the league in the Preseason Coaches' Poll, receiving 16 points.

Frank, Rosati and Trojan were all unanimous selections.

Frank, a defender from Bel Air, Md., was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team last season. In her freshman campaign, Frank started all 18 games for the Wildcats and led the team with 31 caused turnovers. She also finished second in the BIG EAST for caused turnovers per game, averaging 1.72.

Moro, a goalkeeper from Westport, Conn., became the primary starter for Villanova in the net two games into 2019. She started 15 of the 18 contests for the Wildcats, making 144 saves on 415 shots faced and posting a .454 save percentage, which ranked her third among keepers in the BIG EAST. She was named to All-BIG EAST Second Team at the end of last season.

Rosati, a midfielder from Boonton Township, N.J., finished her junior season ranked number two on the team in draw controls with 52. She had 17 goals, 10 assists and 27 points, and earned a place on the All-BIG EAST Second Team.

Trojan, an attacker from Airmont, N.Y., was another one of the Wildcat's All BIG-EAST First Team selections last season. She started 17 contests her junior season and finished the season with a team-high 34 goals.

Last season, Villanova went 10-8 overall and 3-2 in BIG EAST play. 2019 was its first 10-win season in program history. The team also set a program record with six players being named to the BIG EAST All-Conference Team.

The BIG EAST Championships will take place Apr. 30- May 2 on Georgetown's campus in Washington, D.C. The semifinals will take place on Apr. 30 and the final match will take place on May 2. Only the top four teams in the conference will advance to the BIG EAST Championships at the end of the regular season.

The Wildcats will kick of its 2020 season the road at William & Mary on Feb. 8.
