For the third time in four weeks, Villanova University sophomore forward Maddy Siegrist has been named the BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week. Siegrist earns the award for her play in Saturday's 73-68 win over the Creighton Bluejays. In 37 minutes of action, Siegrist tallied 34 points, a career-high 19 rebounds, three assists and three blocks. The 34 points came on 11-of-22 shooting (2-of-7 from three-point range) and a 10-of-14 effort from the foul line. She now has three career games of 30+ points, including two this season.

With Connecticut now back in the BIG EAST, the Wildcats and Huskies will meet in women's basketball for the first time in eight years when the two teams face one another on Tuesday evening. The last meeting between the schools came on Jan. 29, 2013, when Connecticut tallied a 76-43 victory.

First-year Wildcat head coach Denise Dillon has guided her team to a 7-0 start. The seven straight wins ties Dillon with Harry Perretta for most coaching wins to start a career in Villanova women's basketball history. Perretta began his Wildcat career in 1978-79 by winning his first seven games before losing to Scranton in game number eight.

Senior forward Brianna Herlihy has emerged as a consistent second scorer for Villanova. Herlihy has now reached double figures in points in six of the seven games, including three games of 20 points or more. Entering play versus Connecticut, she is averaging 15.7 points per game and 7.7 rebounds per contest which both rank second on the team. She is also second on the team in field goal percentage at .506 (41-of-81).

Following the Connecticut game, Villanova will be off for 10 days before playing host to Georgetown on January 2.
