Villanova Falls to Drexel in Philly 4 Lacrosse Finale

Philadelphia, Pa- Despite playing even after three quarters the Villanova Wildcats couldn't hold on and fell to the Drexel Dragons 15-12 on Sunday afternoon. 

The Wildcats came out strong netting the first two, first Keegan Khan came around the cage and scored an unassisted one and then Patrick Daly set up Corey McManus at the 9:04 mark to make it 2-0.  Drexel answered scoring five over the remaining minutes while Daly was the only Wildcats to score to make to make it 5-3 Drexel after one.

Daly helped kick start the Villanova offense in the second quarter the sophomore dished a pass to Connor Kirst to make it a one goal game.  Drexel scored two but Khan set up Corey McManus to push Villanova back within two.  Reid Bowering scored his fourth of the game on and Ryan Genord also netted on to push the Drexel lead back up to 9-5 halfway through the quarter.  Villanova answered back taking advantage of an non-releasable penalty to score two goals; both were Daly to Campbell to make it 9-7.  Luke Prybylski scored with just minutes before halftime on a pass from Khan to make it 9-8 Drexel at half.

Villanova's made a goalkeeper switch at halftime after Will Vitton was hit at the end of the second quarter and Brendan Haggerty played the final 30 between the posts.  The Wildcats defense was locked in the third not allowing Drexel to score a goal.  During the quarter the Wildcats took the lead by scoring two goals; the first was by Campbell the second by Khan.

The final quarter saw the Dragons tie the game up three times and then final take the lead by scoring the final four goals to win 15-12. 

Patrick Kennedy had nine ground balls and caused one turnover during the game.  Justin Coppola went 10-of-16 from the faceoff x with four ground balls.  Daly finished with seven points on the day while Khan and Campbell each had four.

Villanova will now have a bye week and then will return to action on Saturday March 21st against the Fairfield Stags.  Game time is scheduled for 12:00 P.M. inside Villanova Stadium.
