Womens Soccer Welcomes Mary Clare Langan To the Class of 2024

Villanova, Pa.- Villanova women's soccer head coach Chris McLain and his staff have announced the third signing of the 2024 class, midfielder Mary Clare Langan.

"Mary Clare will bring extremely high energy to our team," shared head coach Chris McLain.  "She is versatile is several positions and her work-rate is contagious, she will be ready for the step to Division I soccer and that's extremely exciting".

Langan earned four varsity letters at midfield at Ramapo High School where she scored 51 goals and dished out 36 assists.  She was named a United Soccer Coaches All-American, All-Region team, and Big North Player of the Year in 2019.  Also, Langan is a two-time NJGSCA Top 20 (2018 and 2019) and three-time first team all-country (2017-19).  During her senior year she was named to the Super Intendants List.  Langan also spent 4 years playing for Princeton Soccer Association. 

"We are looking forward to having Mary Clare join our team," stated associate head coach Daniel Clitnovici.  "She is great kid and will be very well liked by her teammates, she can also make an immediate impact on the field and we are excited about that".

Langan shared why she chose Villanova, "I chose to attend Villanova University because of its combination of exceptional academics and athletics. I admire the coaching staff and the environment they create for women's soccer players. Their dedication to the team has motivated me to work harder. Also, I have always loved the campus, academics and social aspects of Villanova since it has been a big part of my life because my parents, uncle and sister attended the school."
