Villanova Finishes First Day at Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate

Jonesborough, TN - The Villanova golf team finished the first day of competition at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate late Sunday evening. After the first 18 holes, the team sits in 12th place, shooting a combined 290 (+2). 

Leading the way for the Wildcats has been Peter Weaver, who sits tied for 1st place with a score of 4-under-par (68). He totaled five birdies in the first round, including three in a row on the front nine. Noah Peck and Matt Davis each shot 73 on their first go around, placing them tied for 53rd. Peck had four birdies, while Davis totaled three. Luke Alexander (76) and Matthew Copeland (81) rounded out the Villanova lineup. 

Host ETSU leads the tournament with a score of -11, tied with Louisville for first place. Charlotte (-8) sits in second, Charleston (-6) fourth, Virginia Tech (-5) fifth and Furman and Georgia Southern are tied for sixth at -4. The rest of the field includes UAB (-3) in eighth, Chattanooga and NC State (-2) tied for ninth, Maryland (-1) in eleventh, Villanova in twelfth, Penn State (+3) in thirteenth and Augusta and Coastal Carolina are tied for fourteenth at +4. 

Villanova will tee off starting at 8:30 AM tomorrow on the 10th hole.
