BURKE, Va.—Freshman Eitan Khromchenko (Manalapan, N.J.) was a winner in his collegiate debut on Saturday night as he defeated his No. 4 singles opponent in straight sets. He tallied the lone team point for Villanova (0-2) in a 6-1 defeat against George Mason (1-0) at the Burke Racquet & Swim Club. The host Patriots won two doubles matches to clinch the first point of the night and then captured five of the six singles matches.

Khromchenko faced Erick Rivas in the No. 4 singles match and outlasted him to take the first set, 7-5, before going on to sweep the second set by a 6-0 count. Khromchenko also teamed with sophomore Daniel Cheng (Los Angeles, Calif.) at No. 3 doubles, where the pair were defeated 6-3 by Herman Jentoft and Luke Maxwell.

The top spots in the Wildcats lineup remained the same from last week's season opener at Delaware, as sophomore Alex Kim (Cary, N.C.) teamed with classmate Justin Suarez (Manila, Philippines) in the No. 1 doubles match and also played in the No. 1 singles position. Kim and Suarez were defeated 6-4 in doubles action, while Rithik Sardana defeated Kim in singles (6-2, 6-2).

Senior Daniel Martinez (Coral Gables, Fla.) played at No. 2 singles, followed by Cheng, Khromchenko, Suarez and freshman Anthony Prokurat (Manalapan, N.J.) in the team's lineup.
