Ambrose Abbracciamento (Newtown, Pa.), Villanova posted a team score of 295 (+7) in the final round of the Donald Ross Collegiate Classic and finished 12
th in the team standings as the tournament concluded on Tuesday afternoon. The third and final round of the tournament saw the Wildcats playing their best golf of the week at Mid Pines Golf Club. The course played at par-72 and 6,633 yards for the tournament.
Freshman
Peter Weaver (Frontenac, Mo.) was the top finisher for Villanova with a tie for 35
th place overall. He was among the several Wildcats who had their best round of the final 18 holes, as he made birdies at the third, 16
th and 17
th holes to finish with a score of 74 (+2) for the final round. Weaver finished the tournament at 77-77-74 (+12).
Siegfried played a steady final round with 14 pars to finish in a tie for 49
th place with scores of 79-82-72, while Abbracciamento and senior
Reb Banas (Winnetka, Ill.) each tied for 61
st place. Abbracciamento caught fire in the final round with four birdies in a span of six holes (No. 1, No. 3, No. 4, No. 6) and six overall for the round. He finished the week with scores of 81-84-72, while Banas carded rounds of 78-81-78.
Junior
Noah Peck (Hunt Valley, Md.) tied for 63
rd place with rounds of 74-87-77. He finished the tournament on a strong note by playing even par on the back nine in the final round.
Villanova tallied a 12
th place tournament finish with team scores of 308-324-295. Also in action during the week was freshman
Jonathan Elkins (South Deerfield, Mass.) who played as an individual and tied for a 58
th place finish. Elkins posted scores of 81-78-77 in his collegiate debut, and birdies the third and ninth holes in his final round.
The next event on the Villanova schedule is a home tournament at LuLu Country Club in Glenside, Pa. on March 27.
