McClay Garners BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week Honors

New York, N.Y. – For the second straight week, netminder Megan McClay (Flower Mound, Tx.) was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week, which was announced by the conference Monday afternoon.

The junior transfer was stellar last week in two matchups, totaling 21 saves over the span of 200-minutes in net. McClay racked up eight saves in the overtime loss at St. John's before surrendering the golden goal in the 100th minute. Just three days later, the veteran was back in net denying the UConn Huskies from any scoring opportunities. McClay rejected the Huskies aggressive attack by saving a season-high 13 shots on goal leading to a scoreless draw. For the week, McClay boasted a .955 save percentage and 0.43 goals against average to pair with her impressive 21 saves.

Villanova will return to action on Thursday, March 11 when they host Georgetown at Higgins Soccer Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 ET.
