New York, N.Y.- The Villanova Wildcats had two named to the All-BIG EAST Teams as announced by the conference office Wednesday morning. Graduate student goalkeeper
Megan McClay earned All-BIG EAST Second Team honors while
Izzy Newton earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team.
McClay is the first Villanova goalkeeper to earn a spot on the All-BIG EAST Second Team since 2001. This season in league action McClay picked up three wins and draw in over 880 minutes in goal. The graduate student had a 0.82 goals against average and 61 saves along with a .884 save percentage. Overall, this season McClay in 13 games had a 0.94 goals against average. McClay finished second in the BIG EAST in saves with 73, save average 5.62, and save percentage .859.
Newton in her rookie season played in 15 games at forward while starting in 12. In league action Newton took 12 shots and placed five on goal. Against Delaware the rookie netted her first career goal and at Colgate dished out an assist on the game winner. Overall Newton took 2 shots and placed nine on goal for a .450 shot on goal percentage.
This is the first time since 2019 that the Wildcats have had more then one student-athlete earn All-BIG EAST honors.
