VILLANOVA LOSES AT GEORGIA TECH

Megan Kern Doubles In The Loss

ATLANTA, GA. – The Villanova Wildcats were in Atlanta on Saturday afternoon where they suffered an 11-0 loss to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. With the setback, Villanova is now 1-3 on the season, while Georgia Tech improves to 3-0.
 
Georgia Tech scored one run in the first and two in the second to take a 3-0 lead. Sara Beth Allen led the way in the early going with three RBI on two singles.
 
The Yellow Jackets broke the game open in the bottom of the third. With one out, Bailee Zeitler and Auburn Dupree registered back-to-back singles. After Ella Edgmon reached on a fielder's choice, Tricia Awald hit a grand slam to straightaway center to increase the Georgia Tech lead to 7-0.
 
Georgia Tech added on four insurance runs in the bottom fourth with Edgmon delivering an RBI single and Emma Kauf tallying a two-run double.
 
Villanova's lone hit of the game came in the top of the fourth on a double by Megan Kern.
 
Paige Rauch started on the mound and took the loss to fall to 1-1 on the season.
 
Villanova will conclude its weekend trip to Atlanta on Sunday when the Wildcats take on the Saint Joseph's Hawks. First pitch is set for 10 a.m.
