Villanova Announces 2023 Football Schedule

Season kicks off at Lehigh on September 2, home opener slated for September 9 against Colgate

VILLANOVA, PA. – Villanova University head football coach Mark Ferrante today announced the program's 2023 football schedule. The Wildcats will play an 11-game slate, including eight CAA games and three non conference contests.

The Wildcats begin the season with back-to-back games versus Patriot League opponents. Villanova opens the year on Sept. 2 at Lehigh, before hosting Colgate on Sept. 9. Villanova concludes the non conference portion of its schedule on Sept. 16 with a trip to Orlando for a FBS game against UCF (Central Florida) who will be first-year members of the Big 12 Conference.

Following the UCF game, the Wildcats will play eight consecutive CAA contests. The CAA opener is set for Sept. 23 when Rhode Island visits Villanova Stadium. Villanova then hits the road for back-to-back away games at UAlbany (Sept. 30) and at North Carolina A&T (Oct. 7) who become CAA Football members in 2023.

Villanova returns home on Oct. 14 to face Elon, before having a bye week on Oct. 21. Homecoming is set for Oct. 28 when Stony Brook visits the Main Line.

The November portion of the schedule includes two of the three games being played on the road.  After traveling to New Hampshire on Nov. 4, the Wildcats will host Towson on Nov. 11 for Senior Day. Villanova closes out the 2023 regular season at arch-rival Delaware on Nov. 18.
