PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- The Wildcats fell on the road to Drexel in a tough 6-1 loss for their spring season opener.
The match kicked off with doubles. The junior duo of captain
Josh Robinson and
Noah Winton took on Alan Jesuadason and Alex Sousa at the number one spot. They fell short with a 6-2 defeat.

At the number two position was the pair of sophomore
Trey Fourticq and freshman
Tighe Brunetti who faced Daniel Dudockin and Matvey Radionov. The pair were also overpowered taking the 6-2 loss.

The team of senior
Justin Suarez and junior
Anthony Prokurat went head-to-head with Juan Sanchez and Pierre Humayou losing a close 6-3 battle on court three.

Drexel claimed the first team point of the match.

Starting off at number one singles was Robinson to take on previous competitor Sousa. Sousa showed a strong performance and took the 6-1, 6-2 win over the Wildcat.

Brunetti stepped up to the number two singles to take on Drexel's Dudockin and gave his opponent a right fight ultimately falling in a 7-5, 6-2 loss.

Freshman
Cooper Gordon battled against Radionov in their head-to-head taking a 6-0, 6-3, 6-1 defeat.

Fourticq gave the Dragon's Hugo Brungs a challenge in their match up ultimately losing in a 6-3, 6-2 result.

Prokurat was bested by Sanchez in 6-2, 6-0 defeat in number five singles. Â

The biggest battle of the day came from the sophomore
Ryan Nguyen who went up against Djordje Janackovic in the six spot. Nguyen had a great day as the lone Wildcat to take a victory on the day with a 6-2, 6-0 win.

A tough start to the season with the 6-1 team loss to the Dragons. The Wildcats return to action on Sunday January 29 to take on the University of Delaware at 12 pm.
