UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. –
Winnie Jalet picked up wins in the 100 and 200 Breast on Friday evening at the McCoy Natatorium as Villanova fell to Penn State, 183-106.
The freshman posted winning times of 1:04.42 in the 100 Breast and 2:18.83 in the 200 Breast to get her third sweep in the event this season. She also had a second-place relay performance with Villanova's (2-5) B team in the 200 Free, swimming an opening leg time of 24.93 for a group that posted a 1:41.06 time.
Villanova had 14 top-three showings against Penn State (6-2) with Jalet logging the only two individual victories on the day. The 200 Medley Relay B team of
Hannah Wasmuth, Maggie Kleinsmith,
Katie White and
Cara Stapleton posted a top-spot time of 1:51.22. In the 200 Free Relay, the A group of Stapleton,
Lainey Quinones,
Lexi Elkovitch and
Perri Stahl were first in 1:37.60 with Jalet,
Mary Kate Farrell,
Molly Benson and White finishing second in 1:41.06.
Benson was third in the 1000 Free at 10:38.21 with Elkovitch touching second in the 200 Free with a 1:54.89 showing.
Audrey Pastorek had a pair of top-three finishes, clocking in third in the 100 Back in 58.27 and touching second in the 200 Back with a time of 2:04.00.
Claire Feick picked up a third place performance, scoring a 248.03 in the 1-meter dives.
White was second in the 200 Fly, touching in 2:03.54. Stahl touched in 24.27 to take third in the 50 Free. Kleinsmith joined Jalet in the top three of the 200 Breast, touching third in 2:25.52. The 200 IM brought a second-place finish for
Kaitlin Gravell with a time of 2:09.34.
Villanova is back in the pool tomorrow at West Virginia. Action starts at noon from the Aquatic Center at Mylan Park in Morgantown, W. Va.
