MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – Villanova had 18 top-three finishes, but ultimately fell to West Virginia, 207.5-83.5, on Saturday at the Aquatic Center at Mylan Park.
Charlie Hinckley led Villanova (2-5) with a pair of second-place individual swims in the loss to West Virginia (2-2).
Hinckley and
Jake McIntyre went 2-3 in the 1000 Free, touching in 9:49.71 and 9:52.26, respectively. Much of the same came from the dup in the 500 Free with Hinckley taking second (4:38.95) and McIntyre touching third (4:44.82).
Andrew Mitchill had a season-best time of 1:43.19 in the 200 Free that was good enough for second place.
Mikey Thurk landed third in both of his Freestyle appearances, touching in 21.29 in the 50 Free and 47.06 in the 100 Free.
Aubrey Bowles finished third in the 200 Back (1:54.04).
Nicholas Jubilee also took third in the 1-meter, scoring a 266.55.
Richard Nolan and Mitchill went 2-3 in the 200 Breast at 2:11.24 and 2:15.68, respectively.
Kevin Geist touched second in the 100 Fly (52.12) with
Ryan Maher following closely behind in third (52.43).
Nolan Danus earned a second place finish in the 200 IM (1:55.96) and tied for third in the 200 Fly (1:53.67). Behind Danus in the 200 IM was Nolan, touching third in 2:01.25.
The final relay of the day brought a 2-3 finish for Villanova. Thurk,
Sam Randall,
Reid Hutcherson and
Henry Gingrich finished second (1:24.88) while Maher,
Gavin Jones,
Alex Hamill and Bowles were third (1:27.56).
Villanova returns home tomorrow for Sprintfest with La Salle. The meet starts at 11 a.m. at the Villanova Swim Complex with Senior Day festivities beginning at 10:45 a.m.
