PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA.— The
Villanova golf team finished the Big 5 Invitational in third place, wrapping up Wednesday's one-round event at Sunnybrook Golf Club.
The Wildcats shot a combined one over, eight strokes behind the winner Drexel (seven under). Temple also finished ahead of the 'Cats, while LaSalle and St. Joe's ended in fourth and fifth place.
Peter Weaver finished at a tie for first place with a score of 67 (five under), ending as the runner-up to Temple's Joseph Morganti and outlasting Drexel's Oscar Maxfield after a four-hole playoff. Weaver totaled seven birdies on the day.
Ryan Pamer shot even par on the day (72) to finish at a tie for seventh place, adding three birdies on the day.
Jonathan Elkins finished two over (74) placing him in a tie for 13th place. He added two birdies on the day.
Vimal Alokam and
PJ O'Rourke both shot four over on the day (T-20).
In his first D-I collegiate action,
Jackson Lehner shot five over (77) placing him at a tie for 24th on the leaderboard.
Freshman
Peter Barros and
Nathan Marion both had their college debuts. Barros finished at a tie for 24th, shooting five over (77). Marion finished at a tie for 31st shooting eight over (80).
UP NEXT: The Wildcats will round out their fall slate next week, competing in LIU's Nassau Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday.
