NEW YORK – Villanova Swimming and Diving had 16 student-athletes named to the All-BIG EAST Team following their performances at the 2023 BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships presented by JEEP at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, N.Y.
The All-BIG EAST squad is comprised of BIG EAST competitors who finished in the top three in any individual or relay event at the championships.
Fifty women and 44 men complete the list of honorees. A total of 50 student-athletes – 27 women, 23 men – earned all-conference for multiple events. Villanova's
Lexi Elkovitch and
Audrey Pastorek each garnered the most All-BIG EAST accolades on the women's side with six apiece. The 2023 BIG EAST Most Outstanding Swimmer, Xavier's Andrew Martin, led the men with seven accolades.
For the women, BIG EAST champion Villanova logged a league-best 13 all-conference honorees after winning its 10
th consecutive BIG EAST title, 15
th overall. On the men's side, a trio of Wildcats were All-BIG EAST honorees.
Audrey Pastorek and
Lexi Elkovitch led the 'Cats with five All-BIG EAST performances each. Pastorek, named the Most Outstanding Swimmer, was All-BIG EAST in all five of her events, earning gold in the 200 IM, 100 Breast and 200 Breast while helping the group to winning swims in the 200 Medley and 400 Medley Relays. Elkovitch was also on winning relays in the 200 Free, 800 Free, 400 Medley and 400 Relay while earning bronze in the 200 Free.
