Golf Ends First Day At Golden Horseshoe In 8th Place

Pamer ties for third in the field after a first round score of 66

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Villanova golf team earned eighth place after the first day of the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate, with the Wildcats totaling a 582 in the two rounds.

Ryan Pamer ended the day tied for third in the field, after shooting an event-best 66 in the opening round. Through the first 14 holes, Pamer was seven-under with an eagle on hole six and ended that set of 18 with a five-under to be tops on the leaderboard.

Peter Weaver ranked in the top 10 among all golfers with eight birdies, and finished the first round tied for fifth in the field before completing the day at two-over. 

Jason Lohwater was the best Wildcat in terms of par-3 scoring with an even-par performance on those holes, and earned T29 on the overall leaderboard. Joshua Lavely totaled 24 pars and shot a nine-over with a second-round 72.

Jonathan Elkins was slated to be a member of the VU lineup, but withdrew from both rounds in Virginia.

Vimal Alokam, who competed individually, tied for 43rd on the leaderboard with an eight-over, having shot a 35 on the front nine of his second set.

UP NEXT: The final round of the Golden Horseshoe will take place on Tuesday, with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. in Virginia.
