GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Villanova golf team won its second straight trophy on Tuesday afternoon, capturing the Wildcat Spring Invitational by two strokes.
Peter Weaver captured Villanova's first medalist honors this season, picking up his third career individual title. The team captain ended six strokes better than any other golfer in the field, shooting a nine-under 133 at the event.
The victory marks the first time ever that the Wildcats have won back-to-back tournaments, matching their highest season win total in the span of two weeks.
Ryan Pamer finished fourth in the field with a one-under 141. The freshman from Ohio shot a four-under in the opening round of the tournament, totaling seven birdies in the tournament.
Luke Alexander ended with a three-over 145 at the Wildcat Spring, tying for 18th after leading the field in pars.
Jason Lohwater totaled a seven-over 149 to land T-39th in the field, notching a one-over in the back nine of each round.
Vimal Alokam ended in a tie for 46th on the overall leaderboard after competing individually, completing the event at eight-over with 10 birdies.
Joshua Lavely, the fifth man in the VU lineup, finished the event strong, going even-par on the last day to finish at 17-over in the two rounds. Individual competitor Kyle Kinnane also shot a 159 at LuLu Country Club, tying with Lavely for 86th place.
The final individual Matt Minerva totaled a round of two-over in the final 18 holes including an even-par performance on the front nine.
