COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Villanova golf team took part in its final competition before the BIG EAST Championship, taking 17th at Ohio State's Robert Kepler Intercollegiate this weekend.
Peter Weaver finished atop the Villanova lineup and tied for the highest BIG EAST placement at T-17th on the overall leaderboard, shooting a 220 (70-73-77) across the three rounds. The junior put up seven birdies, including four in the opening round at OSU Golf Club during his one-under 70 round. The Missouri native ranked in the top ten on the overall leaderboard after 36 holes, using a 73 to vault himself into eighth place on day two.
Ryan Pamer finished in a tie for 62nd, totaling four birdies in the third round to complete the event with his best round of two-over. The freshman shot a one-over, two-over and even par on the front nine in each of his three rounds in his home state of Ohio.
Jason Lohwater also ended at T-62, contributing rounds of 74-76-80 to finish the competition tied for second in the VU lineup. The graduate student tied for fifth in the field on pars with 34, going two-over on par-3s.
Vimal Alokam completed the event with a 26-over, ending with his best round of 78. The sophomore contributed three birdies in that set of holes, and had his best performance on the front nine of round two with a two-over 38.
Luke Alexander withdrew from the first round, but ended the event at 19-over with a 78 in round three. The Minnesota native put up a two-over on the back nine in his final set of holes and had three birdies in the event.
The Wildcats will now prepare to head to Riverton Pointe Golf and Country Club in South Carolina for the BIG EAST Championship, taking place from Apr. 28-30.
