HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The Villanova Wildcats rank in the top three on the overall leaderboard after day one at the BIG EAST Championship, putting up a team performance of three-over 291 in the round to place third behind Seton Hall and Butler.
Peter Weaver shot a three-under 69, totaling an event-high six birdies on the day with a two-under in the back nine to tie for the individual lead after the first round.
Jason Lohwater finished second in the Villanova lineup and T-15th overall after shooting a 73 in the first 18 holes, having just three non-par holes to lead the field in pars.
Vimal Alokam put forth a stellar front nine at one-under and ended at two-over 74 for the day, good for 21st in the field after a three-birdie performance.
Ryan Pamer shot even-par on the back nine to get himself to three-over on Friday, placing T-27th on the 50-player leaderboard.
Joshua Lavely rounded out the VU competitors with a one-over 37 in the first half of the round and an 80 to end day one.
Two more days of action are set for Riverton Pointe, with one 18-hole round on each of Saturday and Sunday to crown the BIG EAST champion.
