HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – After a windy day made for tough conditions on the final day of action, the Villanova Wildcats wrapped up the 2022-23 regular season with a tie for fifth place at the BIG EAST Championship, led by one top-five and another top-15 individual.
Marquette won the team title and St. John's Jack Simon captured the BIG EAST's individual bid into the NCAA Tournament.
Peter Weaver wrapped up the competition tied for fifth, combining for a one-over 217 (69-72-76) at Riverton Pointe. The team captain contributed 14 birdies (second best in the field) and went even-par on the front nine of the last day to help him earn an All-Tournament Team selection.
Jason Lohwater was one of the steadiest performers among the 50-player field in South Carolina, leading all golfers in pars with 40. The graduate transfer from Bucknell ended at T-12th on the leaderboard with a weekend total of four-over 220 (73-71-76), featuring a one-under back nine in round two.
Ryan Pamer totaled a nine-over 225 across the three days to finish in a tie for 25th, including a three-under 69 with five birdies in the sandwich round.
Vimal Alokam ended the weekend with a 15-over for T-39th on the leaderboard, putting forth his best performance on Friday with a two-over.
Joshua Lavely shot a 77 on the final day of the event, using an eagle on hole 15 to power himself to a one-over back nine, to finish with a 157 after his 36 holes.
Luke Alexander subbed into the Wildcat lineup on Saturday, shooting a three-over on the back nine to total an 84 in his lone round.
