NORMAN, Okla. -- Villanova golfer
Peter Weaver was selected to the 2022-23 Division I PING All-Region team, announced this week by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
The junior was selected All-Northeast Region after a season in which he broke his own program record for single season scoring average at 71.91 while also establishing program single season bests in birdies (109), par or better rounds (14) and counting scores (100%, 33 counters). Weaver was one of 25 selections in the northeast region, with players across six areas earning all-region accolades in 2023.
The Missouri native becomes the second Wildcat to earn All-Region honors, joining
Andy Butler in 2018. Weaver was named VU's first ever All-BIG EAST First Team recipient after finishing as the league's third ranked player on the year. Villanova's team captain was the lone Wildcat to appear in every round on the season and earned individual medalist honors at the Wildcat Spring Invitational after shooting the program's second lowest round ever.
Weaver also set new records for low-36 hole total with a nine-under at the Wildcat Spring and low-54 hole total with a four-under 206 at The Doc Gimmler.
