CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa—Villanova improved to 4-3 on the season by defeating Saint Francis 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.
The Wildcats were able to prevail in a very competitive game that saw the Red Flash attempt 22 shots to the 'Cats 21.
Emma Leppert shined in goal for the Wildcats making 8 saves to keep the lead safe.
"It was a group effort, defense was really strong today," said Leppert. "Coming off the Georgetown game it was great to follow it up with another win."
Meghan Mitchell and
Amanda Middleman continued their impressive senior campaigns by scoring both Wildcat goals. Mitchell opened the scoring eight minutes into the contest by deflecting in a
Sabine de Ruijter shot. Middleman then poked home her fifth goal of the season in the second quarter when
Gemma Lysaght found her open in front of the goal. The freshman back recorded her first career point with the assist.

Carrera Lucas noted there is more room for improvement moving forward.
"We got off a lot of shots in the attacking end today which is something we've been trying to be more consistent with. The next step is making sure they are higher quality shots, and we are converting," Lucas reflected. "We simply need to get more shots on target."

Joanie Milhous now sits two wins away from 250 for her career.
Milhous looks to reach 250 wins in the state of Connecticut next week as the 'Cats travel to Quinnipiac on Friday, September 22
