Golf Places Sixth at Nassau Intercollegiate

Pamer finishes tied for sixth; Vickers places second among individuals

GLEN COVE, N.Y. – After two days of competition at the Nassau Intercollegiate, the Wildcats come away with a sixth place finish out of 13 teams. They totaled a three-round score of 42 over par (300-292-290=882). Three Villanova golfers totaled their best 54-hole score of the season in this event.

VU stood out at the top of the team statistical leaderboards, finishing in the top five in average score on par three, four, and five holes, shooting even on par five holes as a team. They also recorded the second most holes at par of any team in the field.

Oklahoma Christian won both the team and individual championships. The team championship was captured at 16 over par (276-294-286=856).

The 'Cats recorded the second lowest team score of the final round at +10 (290), trailing only the champions from the Sooner State.

THE EVENT | NASSAU COUNTRY CLUB, PAR 70, 6,829 YARDS
Ryan Pamer completed the tournament tied for sixth place (+7). This is his third top 10 finish of the season, and his seventh top 10 finish in seven career events in New York. Pamer shot one over (71), paced by shooting even on the front nine in the third round. He led the 'Cats with three birdies, all occurring on par four holes.

Vibhav Alokam shot two over (72) on day three, including even par on the back nine. He shot par on 11 consecutive holes. He did not receive an individual placement due to the disqualification he was given in round one. Alokam's 36-hole total was 146 (+6), matching his lowest of the season. He shot 44 holes at even par, eight more than any other competitor.

Matt Zerfass shot three over par in round three, landing him tied for 15th place (+9) for the event. He recorded his second top 20 finish in blue and white. His total score of 219 is his lowest 54 round score as a Wildcat. Zerfass shot two under (33) on the front nine and was in third place overall entering the turn. He continued to shine on par five holes, shooting under par on them for the second tournament in a row.

Gus Vickers finished second among individuals in this tournament. He tied for 30th place, shooting six over (76) on the day and 226 (+13) across the three rounds.

Joshua Lavely shot four over (74) in round three, moving himself four spots up the leaderboard to finish tied for 30th at 13 over par (226). Lavely shot one over on the back nine, birdying the lone par five. His other birdie in round three came on hole six, which ranked the statistically hardest hole at Nassau Country Club averaging 5.49 strokes for the rest of the field across the tournament.

Jackson Lehner finished five over in round three to tally a score of 75 for the round and 226 for the event. Lehner shot even par on the back nine today, birdying two. He concluded the tournament at 16 over par, tying for 41st place.
