Sophia Corretjer. "This year, we've embraced a team-led approach, starting by defining our core values and empowering the team to set standards for one another. The result has been a group deeply invested in our mission, as they've had a hand in shaping it," said Batcheller.
"Our leadership council has been instrumental in establishing, maintaining, and reinforcing these standards. Their dedication and ownership of their roles have been key in driving the momentum of our program, with strong leadership present throughout the team," Batcheller said.
Senior
Maddy Stoddard reflects on her fourth fall season as a Wildcat after earning ALL-BIG EAST Second Team and leading the 'Cats with 26 ground balls, "This fall season was the strongest this team has been out of all of my four years." The team did lots of work on and off the field to get ready for their spring season, so Stoddard said, "We are in a really good spot, preparation wise, for the spring".
The seniors feel that the team is closer than ever coming off their fall season. After welcoming 11 girls onto the team, senior
Amelia Ricciuti appeared in 16 games last season and had 15 ground balls, coming off of her fourth fall season she said, "The team chemistry was huge, being close off the field translated to on the field."
Looking forward to the spring season and having such a close team, they are excited to travel together. Senior Goalie
Cate Gallagher said, "Traveling with this team is so much fun and we have a lot of fun away games to look forward to." Gallagher returns after playing in 12 games last season and having 72 saves.
Senior
Sydney Pappas returns after leading the team with 49 goals and 53 points last season and getting two straight ALL-BIG EAST First Team. She plans to lead this team to success in the spring, saying, "Any team is beatable if we play our game and execute on the field."
The Villanova women's lacrosse team will kick off their season on Saturday, February 1 with a scrimmage at Delaware starting at 12 p.m.
