STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.—Senior distance runner
Cole Walker (Chadds Ford, Pa.) led a trio of Villanova runners in the 3000 meters and fifth year athlete
Ryan Kredell (Geneva, Ill.) ran the 5000 meters at the Fastrack National Invite on Friday afternoon. Three personal best performances highlighted the day for the Wildcats at Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex where the team competed for the third time this season.
Walker finished sixth out of 76 entries in the 3000 meters with a time of 8:16.88. He was followed by the duo of sixth year athlete
Henry Myers (Portland, Ore.) and redshirt freshman
Jack Tavaglione (Califon, N.J.) who each tallied personal best times. Myers crossed the finish line in 8:18.85 and Tavaglione registered a time of 8:22.23. Earlier in the afternoon, Kredell posted a time of 14:51.52 in the 5000 meters to round out Villanova's highlighted performances in the track events.
Freshman sprinter
Imevar Justice (Summit, N.J.) registered a personal best time of 22.33 in the 200 meters to close out the meet. Fellow first year collegian
Derrick Smith (New Orleans, La.) tied his PR and best time of the season at 7.16 in the preliminary heats of the 60 meters, while the freshman duo of
Matthew Griffin (Whippany, N.J.) and
Ethan Walls (Ridgefield, Conn.) competed in the 400 meters. Griffin lowered his PR to 50.00 in the 400 meters and Walls crossed the finish line in 50.16.
In the field events, sophomore
Sanjay Persaud (Bloomingburg, N.Y.) recorded a mark of 6.16 meters in the long jump. Sophomore thrower
Liam Anderson (Lebanon, N.J.) and freshman
Jonathan Evans (Springfield, Va.) measured throws of 11.89 meters and 11.41 meters, respectively, in the shot put.
Villanova has remaining events at meets in Boston and Chicago on Saturday.
