ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Villanova defeated Navy 14-7 on Tuesday night. The Wildcats dominated from start to finish as they never trailed in the game.
The first quarter was high scoring with
Colin Michener opening the scoring two minutes into the contest. After Navy tied the game at two, Villanova scored three unanswered goals midway through the second quarter including a sweet transition finish from
Stephen Zupicich off a pass from
Lucas Kopecky.
The Midshipmen cut the Wildcat lead to one with 10 minutes remaining in the second quarter before a Villanova avalanche occurred. The Wildcats scored seven straight goals and blanked Navy for 22 minutes in the process. Freshman
Nicholas Lucchesi scored one of the goals of the season as he spun off a Midshipmen defender causing him to fall before rifling a shot in the top left corner of the net in the second quarter.

Thomas McIntire recorded his first Villanova hat trick in the win.
Matt Licata also recorded a hat trick and picked up two assists as he extended his multi goal streak to seven games. Michener tied his season high with five points as the reigning BIG EAST Freshman of the Week scored twice with a hat trick of assists. Lucchesi finished with two goals and
Tyler Boes picked up two points in the win.
Anthony Wilson recorded a season-high 15 saves in the win with a staggering .682 save percentage.
Justin Coppola went 14-22 on faceoffs and picked up six ground balls in the X.
